Order for the Blessing on the Fifteenth
Birthday (Quinceañera)
We are aware that for many teen girls and families, the tradition of the quinceañera blessing. But these are not Sacraments. Sacraments and catechesis take priority in the parish as does ministry for registered parishioners.
St Maximilian typically offers quinceañera blessings after the 5pm Mass.
We only have liturgies in English, so the blessing will be given in English as well.
Because the blessing includes a promise from the girl, we expect that she is enrolled in Faith Formation (or Catholic school) and is preparing for Confirmation (which is a Sacrament).
We also ask that the girl has some understanding of the meaning of quinceañera to the life of faith. We ask that the young woman completes a preparation course online at https://www.catholicquinceprep.com/
Established parishioners may be able to schedule a private ceremony. It will NOT be a Mass. It will be a Liturgy of the Word ceremony performed by a deacon. There will be fees (For use of the church, a cantor and pianist) comparable to a wedding.
